Creative Writing in 10 is a series of short online writing studio courses, each built around a single focus over ten sessions.
These courses are designed to give students a creative space to explore ideas, try out techniques, and build confidence as writers in a structured but welcoming environment.
Each block focuses on a different area — such as World Building, Character Building, or Mystery Building — while maintaining the same Arts Discovery approach: thoughtful, imaginative, and supportive.
Students may bring an existing idea, or simply come to experiment and discover something new. The aim is not to produce identical work, but to help each student develop skill, confidence, and creative momentum.
Creative Writing in 10 is a good fit for students who:
enjoy stories, writing, or imaginative ideas
want a regular writing space without exam pressure
benefit from prompts, discussion, and structure
may already be writing and want help developing ideas
like experimenting in a supportive group setting
Across ten sessions, students explore one central area of writing in depth.
This may include:
creating vivid settings and imagined worlds
building convincing characters and voice
shaping relationships, conflict, and dialogue
developing tension and narrative structure
experimenting with viewpoint and perspective
using sensory detail and strong imagery
Sessions combine short teaching inputs with guided writing, discussion, sharing (if comfortable with this) and the chance to develop individual ideas.
Students often leave with:
greater confidence in generating and shaping ideas
a stronger sense of writing craft
a growing body of work — scenes, fragments, and ideas
increased confidence in sharing and discussing writing
a clearer sense of their own voice
Students receive a certificate on completion, with optional course summaries available for home education records.
Lessons are taught live online in a small-group format.
Sessions include:
short teaching inputs
model examples
guided writing time
discussion and idea-sharing
These are studio-style courses, designed to be creative, flexible, and lower-pressure than exam classes, while still supporting real progress.
Each course runs for 10 sessions and focuses on a specific area:
Creative Writing in 10: World Building (Autumn)
Creative Writing in 10: Character Building (Spring)
Creative Writing in 10: Mystery Building (Summer)
Students may join one course or continue across the year.

A short course in visual storytelling and interpretation
Graphic Novel Lab explores how stories are told through the combination of image and word.
Students look at character, theme, symbolism, layout, mood, and inference, building confidence in reading and interpretation through a highly visual medium.
This is a rich visual–literary bridge course, particularly well suited to visual thinkers and students who benefit from multi-modal approaches to learning
