Exam Entry - FAQ

Who books the exams?

This is for each family to arrange but I will support you as go through the process. You might have a local centre you use already, or you might be starting your search. Some local schools and colleges offer good rates. Places are often limited and the exams officer will have their own internal deadlines.

Arts Discovery is partnered with Tutors And Exams, and therefore you are able to get a discount if you book with them. The links are above and you can email me to ask for the code.

How late can I leave it to book?

Popular exam centres book up fast, so it is best to get in touch with your preferred centre early. Booking fees increase if you leave them until after the cut off date and incur late booking fees.

Where shall I book?

Think about what works for you. I think it is also worth considering strikes to the transport network, plus weather! There might be a site, a local school or college which accepts private candidates, or you might have to travel depending on where you live. If that is the case, could you find a place to stay the day/night before an exam if you needed to?

I think of my own experience here, when I took an exam in January and snowstorms were forecast. We knew a friend near the exam centre so I travelled up two days beforehand and stayed with them. I revised, rested and it was as good as it could have been before an exam. The country ground to a halt with three days of severe snow, but I was able to trudge to the exam centre with only the usual set of nerves and adrenaline. In late May/June, we might not have snow, but we might have extreme heat which can cause problems too.

What about access arrangements/special requirements?

If you have special requirements then book early!! Places are often limited if you need a separate room, rest breaks, use a laptop or need a scribe. London centres and those in big cities book up first.
