Arts Discovery was created after many years of teaching across a wide range of settings, with a particular focus on home-educated students.

The aim is simple: to help students become confident readers, writers, and thinkers — able to interpret meaning, structure ideas clearly, and communicate with confidence.

Teaching is deliberately small-scale and structured, allowing students to move beyond surface answers and develop thoughtful, independent responses. Each course is designed to support real progress, whether building strong foundations or preparing for exams.

I am a secondary teacher with over 19 years’ experience across all Key Stages to A level, and have specialised in teaching home-educated students online since 2014. Having previously home educated my own children, I understand both the flexibility and the challenges of this approach.

Alongside teaching, I am a published writer, with recent work recognised in international competition, including a runner-up award in the Europeana Creative Climate Action Award.

My approach is to match the course to the student — whether that means building strong foundations, preparing for exams, or developing independent thinking.

I am a secondary teacher and A level examiner with over 20 years experience across all Key Stages to A level. I have been teaching home educated students online since 2014 having previously had the fun of home educating my own children.

Art Discovery is member of the Tutors' Association, holds a full enhanced DBS check and has current Level 2 safeguarding training.

KS3

English - years 8/9, 9/10 building pre-GCSE skills and a love of language through short stories, genre and graphic novels.

GCSE English Language

GCSE English courses focus on building clear, structured writing, confident interpretation, and strong exam technique.

Students are supported to move beyond surface answers, developing the skills needed to respond thoughtfully and perform well under exam conditions.

English Literature

A self-study and workshop-based course designed to support independent learners alongside focused live sessions.

Creative Writing Studio

Creative writing in 10! A focused, 10 week supportive space for developing ideas and confidence in writing.

Prompt-led sessions help students move from first thoughts to finished pieces with clarity and structure.

No prior experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to try.

Workshops & Short Courses

Occasional courses and focused workshops run throughout the year, including revision days, graphic novel short courses, and specialist topics.

These are open to both current students and external learners.
